Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of Sash and the website at getsash.app. Please read them carefully — by installing or using Sash, you agree to be bound by them.
1. The agreement
This is a binding agreement between you and Alt Labs Inc., a corporation organized under the laws of Canada ("we", "us", "our"). The agreement consists of these Terms of Service, the Privacy Policy, and the Refund Policy, each of which is incorporated by reference. By installing, accessing, or using Sash, you agree to all three. If you do not agree, do not install or use Sash.
2. The product
Sash is a macOS application that arranges windows on your Mac. Window snapping (halves, top/bottom, maximize, move-to-screen) is available without a license. Pro features — Snap Assist, Snap Layouts, Snap Groups, and Alt-Tab — require an active license or trial. Sash is distributed as a signed and notarized DMG outside the Mac App Store and requires macOS 13 or later.
3. License grant
Subject to your compliance with these terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Sash on a number of Macs you own or control, determined by your tier:
- Standard. Up to 2 device activations.
- Family. Up to 5 device activations.
- Education. 1 device activation. Available to verified students and educators only; we issue Education discount codes after confirming an institutional email address.
Activation limits are enforced by our license-issuing partner Lemon Squeezy. To move your license to a different Mac, deactivate an existing device at manage.getsash.app before activating the new one. The license is associated with the email used at purchase; you may not sell, sublicense, or transfer it to another person.
4. Free trial
Sash offers a 14-day free trial of all Pro features, started from the Settings panel. The trial is one per Mac and does not require a payment method. When the trial ends, Pro features lock and Sash returns to the free tier; you can buy a license at any time to continue.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of Sash, except to the extent that this restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
- Distribute, publish, sell, sublicense, rent, lease, or otherwise transfer Sash or any license key.
- Remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary notices in the application.
- Circumvent, defeat, or attempt to bypass the licensing system, the activation limits, or any security mechanism in Sash.
- Use Sash to engage in activity that is unlawful, infringes the rights of others, or violates the privacy or intellectual property rights of any person.
- Attempt to attack, overload, or interfere with our website, the Lemon Squeezy License API, the Sparkle update feed, or any other infrastructure that supports Sash.
6. Updates
Sash uses the Sparkle update framework to deliver updates. Updates may include bug fixes, security patches, performance improvements, new features, or removed features. Free updates are included with your license for the lifetime of the major version you purchased. Major paid upgrades, if any, will be announced at least 30 days in advance via the website footer and an in-app notice; no major paid upgrade is currently planned.
7. Refunds
Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy. In summary: full refund within 14 days of purchase, no questions, processed by Lemon Squeezy within 5–10 business days. After 14 days, refunds are at our discretion.
8. Third-party services
Sash relies on third-party services to function. Your use of those services through Sash is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies, in addition to ours.
- Lemon Squeezy — our merchant of record. Checkout, license-key issuance, the customer portal, and license validation. See Lemon Squeezy's Terms.
- Sparkle — the open-source auto-update framework, used under the MIT license.
- GitHub — release archive hosting and the Sparkle appcast feed.
- Apple — Sash uses macOS Accessibility and Screen Recording APIs, and is signed and notarized through Apple's Developer Program. Continued availability of these APIs is at Apple's discretion.
9. Intellectual property
Sash, the Sash name, logo, and wordmark are the property of Alt Labs Inc. All rights not expressly granted to you in these terms are reserved. Sash includes open-source components used under their respective licenses; the full list is available at /acknowledgements.
10. Feedback
If you submit feedback, suggestions, or feature requests, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, and incorporate that feedback into Sash or any other product, without obligation or compensation to you. You represent that you have the right to submit any feedback you provide.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
SASH IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, OR UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT SASH WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS OR THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED. SASH DEPENDS ON APIS PROVIDED BY APPLE INC. THAT WE DO NOT CONTROL, AND WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT SASH WILL FUNCTION ON ALL DEVICES, ALL macOS VERSIONS, OR IN ALL CONFIGURATIONS.
12. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL ALT LABS INC., ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION DAMAGES FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, OR LOSS OF GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF SASH, WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, AND WHETHER OR NOT WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF SASH IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR SASH IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $50.
13. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Alt Labs Inc. and its directors, employees, and agents from any claim, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your breach of these terms, your violation of applicable law, or your infringement of any third-party right in connection with your use of Sash.
14. Termination
You may stop using Sash at any time by uninstalling the application and deactivating your devices at manage.getsash.app. We may suspend or terminate your license without notice if you materially breach these terms, including any unauthorized redistribution, license-sharing, or attempt to defeat the licensing system. On termination, the license rights granted in Section 3 immediately end; sections that by their nature should survive (including Sections 8 through 13 and 15 through 18) survive termination.
15. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. The courts located in Toronto, Ontario, have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or Sash, and you consent to that jurisdiction. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.
16. Severability
If any provision of these terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be severed and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
17. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a material way, we will post a notice in the site footer at least 30 days before the change takes effect, update the effective date at the top of this page, and notify active license holders by email where reasonably practicable. Continued use of Sash after the change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
18. Entire agreement; contact
These terms, the Privacy Policy, and the Refund Policy are the entire agreement between you and Alt Labs Inc. regarding Sash, and supersede any prior agreements on the subject. For questions, write to hello@getsash.app.
